FEATURED GUEST STARS INCLUDE THE SPRING STANDARDS, DAN MILLS, SHARONE SAYEGH
Twins Paul and Robbie Rescigno produce and star in their original musical comedy variety show The Rescignos at the American Theater of Actors (314 W. 54th Street NYC) September 19-29 as a part of the second annual Araca Project.
Donning sweater vests and armed with razor-sharp wit, Paul and Robbie Rescigno are like Cain and Abel, but with more singing and less fratricide. In The Rescignos, the titular twin brothers are joined by a talented ensemble of actors for a musical comedy show that hearkens back to an old-school television variety series, with contemporary material and brand spanking new music. If “old-school” feels redundant, we need only remind you: they’re twins. Redundancy is what they do best.
Paul and Robbie, along with producing and writing partner Mike Hadge, have been developing The Rescignos since 2006 and have performed regularly to sold-out crowds in New York City’s cabaret rooms, winning both the 2011 Nightlife Award and the 2011 Bistro Award. The Off-Broadway run of The Rescignos will feature the show’s signature original music and song parodies performed by Paul and Robbie, leading an ensemble of 8 performers: Peter Dagger, Mary Falkenstern, Patrick Pastor, Tricia Rescigno, Jason Shelton and Rebecca Weiner, with John Anderson.
Each performance will feature a guest star appearing alongside the twins. The schedule is as follows:
9/19 – The Spring Standards
9/20 – Adam & Matt Podd (composers, Nightfall on Miranga Island)
9/25 – Sharone Sayegh (Mamma Mia!)
9/27 – Dan Mills (Million Dollar Quartet) & the Dan Mills Band
9/28 – Mike Hadge (The Mike Hadge Trio’s 7th Reunion Concert)
9/29 – Erin Williams
“We have had so much fun in the last few years working with our team to develop The Rescignos. We could not be more excited to bring it to an off-Broadway theater in the fall. We’re ecstatic. This is huge.” Robbie Rescigno said. Paul added, “I’m going to need to buy a new sweater vest.”

The Rescignos is the last of six productions selected out of 90 applicants for the second annual Araca Project, an initiative of The Araca Group (Broadway producers of Wicked, Rock of Ages, Urinetown). After pitching their projects, selected artists participate in a Producing Intensive, which consists of a series of workshops and panels with industry professionals, before producing their work in one or two week runs at The American Theatre of Actors in New York City. By giving artists the opportunity to take on the full artistic and fiscal responsibilities of producing their work off-Broadway, The Araca Project endeavors to embolden these artists to recognize the power of the entrepreneurial spirit in shaping one’s artistic destiny.
