As New York City celebrates the return of everyone’s favorite Funny Girl, the worlds of Broadway, TV, cabaret and the recording industry will come together Friday, October 12 to salute the greatest star with the one-night-only concert Hello Gorgeous! A Salute to the Streisand Songbook, presented by Scott Nevins and Joe Lodato and benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
With Barbra back in her hometown of Brooklyn to deliver two sold-out concerts, NYC’s finest performers gather together on the evening between her shows to salute her stellar catalogue of music at 8 PM October 12 on the stage of the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (East 68th Street between Park & Lexington Avenues).
Acclaimed singer/actress Lorna Luft and multi-award winning singer/songwriter Ann Hampton Callaway lead the impressive list of performers, which includes Tony Award-winner Daisy Eagan (The Secret Garden), Tituss Burgess (“30 Rock,” The Little Mermaid), Nick Adams (Priscilla: Queen of the Desert), Von Smith (“Opening Act” on E!), Saycon Sengbloh (Wicked, The Color Purple), Marty Thomas (Xanadu, Wicked), Erin Quill (Avenue Q), Natalie Toro (A Tale of Two Cities), Kristy Cates (Wicked), Natalie Joy Johnson (Legally Blonde), Jim Caruso (“Cast Party” at Birdland), Steven Brinberg (Simply Barbra) and recording artist Kelly King. The evening will be hosted by award-winning TV personality Scott Nevins (from truTV’s hit show The World’s Dumbest) with Brad Gardner as the evening’s music director.
“We’re going to celebrate the music and artistry that has garnered generation after generation of devoted fans,” says producer and host Scott Nevins. “And it seemed obvious that an evening like this should benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and their efforts to ensure that those who need them most have medications, healthy meals and safe places to sleep.”
