This week’s Between Shows is the new movie musical SPARKLE starring Jordin Sparks and Whitney Houston, in her final film performance. A remake of the 1976 Irene Cara film of the same name, SPARKLE tells the story of three sisters who form a girl group in the 1960s and learn that fame can take a toll on a family.

Not only does SPARKLE remind us of the hit Broadway musical Dreamgirls; it also has some theatre cred in the form of leading lady Jordin Sparks, who starred in In the Heights in 2010. And who doesn’t love the late, great Whitney Houston?
