Between Shows: “The Standbys” A Documentary about Broadway Understudies

This weekend, we’re looking forward to the world premiere screening of the new documentary The Standbys by Stephanie Riggs. The feature film follows the lives of three actors (Ben Crawford, Merwin Foard, and AlĂ©na Watters) employed as standbys on Broadway. The film will premiere this Saturday, May 12 at 2 PM at The Paley Center for the Media as part of the 2012 Tony Award Film Series.

Here’s the trailer for the movie which also features Michael Riedel of the New York Post, producer Nelle Nugent, Cheyenne Jackson, Bebe Neuwirth, and David Hyde Pierce.
