Between Shows: “Al Hirschfeld, Characterist” at Society of Illustrators through June 2

This week’s Between Shows is an exhibit of some of Al Hirschfeld’s legendary drawings of New York theatre. The exhibit, “Al Hirschfeld, Characterist,” is at the Society of Illustrators (128 East 63rd Street) now through June 2.

Noted performers he drew included Groucho Marx, Ed Wynn, the Lunts, Boris Karloff, Vincent Price, Helen Hayes, Jennifer Jones, Burgess Meredith, Nancy Walker, Ruth Gordon, George Segal, Zoe Caldwell, Tim Curry and Fran Leibowitz.
