DRAMA LEAGUE AWARD NOMINEES

Nominations for the 78th annual Drama League Awards, celebrating excellence in Broadway and Off-Broadway theatre, were announced this morning.

BLUEBIRD has been nominated for the Distinguished Performance Award (Simon Russell Beale).

THE COLUMNIST has been nominated for Distinguished Production of a Play. John Lithgow, a past recipient of the Distinguished Performance Award, will be honored on the dais for his work in the production.

DEATH OF A SALESMAN has been nominated for Distinguished Revival of a Play and two Distinguished Performance Awards (Philip Seymour Hoffman and Andrew Garfield).

DREAMS OF FLYING, DREAMS OF FALLING has been nominated for the Distinguished Performance Award (Christine Lahti).

EDWARD ALBEE’S THE LADY FROM DUBUQUE has been nominated for the Distinguished Performance Award (Jane Alexander).

AN EVENING WITH PATTI LUPONE AND MANDY PATINKIN star Patti LuPone, a past recipient of the Distinguished Performance Award, will be honored on the dais for her work in the production.

FOLLIES has been nominated for Distinguished Revival of a Musical and the Distinguished Performance Award (Jan Maxwell). Bernadette Peters, a past recipient of the Distinguished Performance Award, will be honored on the dais for her work in the production.

THE INTELLIGENT HOMOSEXUAL’S GUIDE TO CAPITALISM AND SOCIALISM WITH A KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES has been nominated for Distinguished Production of a Play and two Distinguished Performance Awards (Michael Cristofer and Linda Emond).

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR has been nominated for Distinguished Revival of a Musical.

HUGH JACKMAN: BACK ON BROADWAY star Hugh Jackman, a past recipient of the Distinguished Performance Award, will be honored on the dais for his work in the production.

LEAP OF FAITH has been nominated for Distinguished Production of a Musical and two Distinguished Performance Awards (Raúl Esparza and Leslie Odom, Jr.).  Composer Alan Menken will receive the Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theatre Award.

LOOK BACK IN ANGER has been nominated for Distinguished Revival of a Play and Distinguished Performance Award (Matthew Rhys).

MAN AND BOY star Frank Langella, a past recipient of the Distinguished Performance Award, will be honored on the dais for his work in the production.

MASTER CLASS has been nominated for the Distinguished Performance Award (Tyne Daly).

NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT has been nominated for Distinguished Production of a Musical and two Distinguished Performance Awards (Matthew Broderick and Kelli O’Hara).

ONCE has been nominated for Distinguished Production of a Musical

and two Distinguished Performance Awards (Steve Kazee and Cristin Milioti).

ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS has been nominated for Distinguished Production of a Play and the Distinguished Performance Award (James Corden).

PRIVATE LIVES has been nominated for the Distinguished Performance Award (Kim Cattrall).

RICHARD III has been nominated for the Distinguished Performance Award (Kevin Spacey).

THE ROAD TO MECCA star Rosemary Harris, a past recipient of the Distinguished Performance Award, will be honored on the dais for her work in the production.

SONS OF THE PROPHET has been nominated for a Distinguished Performance Award (Santino Fontana).

STICK FLY has been nominated for a Distinguished Performance Award (Condola Rashad).

THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY has been nominated for the Distinguished Performance Award (Carey Mulligan).

VENUS IN FUR has been nominated for Distinguished Production of a Play and Distinguished Performance (Nina Arianda).

WIT has been nominated for Distinguished Revival of a Play and Distinguished Performance (Cynthia Nixon).

Not for profit company nominations:

ATLANTIC THEATER COMPANY productions have been honored with three nominations: one nomination each for BLUEBIRD; DREAMS OF FLYING, DREAMS OF FALLING and THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY.

MANHATTAN THEATRE CLUB productions have been honored with seven nominations including two for VENUS IN FUR, two for WIT, two for THE COLUMNIST, and one for MASTER CLASS.

ROUNDABOUT THEATRE COMPANY productions have been honored with five nominations including two for LOOK BACK IN ANGER, one for MAN AND BOY, one for THE ROAD TO MECCA and one for SONS OF THE PROPHET.

SIGNATURE THEATRE COMPANY productions have been honored with four nominations including three for THE INTELLIGENT HOMOSEXUAL’S GUIDE TO CAPITALISM AND SOCIALISM WITH A KEY TO THE SCRIPTURES, and one for EDWARD ALBEE’S THE LADY FROM DUBUQUE.
