BONEAU/BRYAN-BROWN CONGRATULATES OUR 2011-2012 DRAMA DESK AWARD NOMINEES

Nominations for the 57th annual Drama Desk Awards, celebrating excellence in Broadway, Off-Broadway and Off-off Broadway, were announced this morning.

DEATH OF A SALESMAN has been nominated for Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Actor in a Play (Philip Seymour Hoffman), Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play (Bill Camp), Outstanding Director of a Play (Mike Nichols) and Outstanding Lighting Design (Brian MacDevitt).

DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY has been nominated for Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Actor in a Musical (Kevin Earley), Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical (Matt Cavenaugh), Outstanding Director of a Musical (Doug Hughes), Outstanding Music (Maury Yeston), Outstanding Lyrics (Maury Yeston), Outstanding Book of a Musical (Thomas Meehan and Peter Stone), Outstanding Costume Design (Catherine Zuber), Outstanding Lighting Design (Kenneth Posner) and Outstanding Sound Design in a Musical (Jon Weston).

EDWARD ALBEE’S THE LADY FROM DUBUQUE has been nominated for Outstanding Revival of a Play.

FOLLIES has been nominated for Outstanding Revival of a Musical, Outstanding Actor in a Musical (Danny Burstein), Outstanding Actress in a Musical (Jan Maxwell), Outstanding Actress in a Musical (Bernadette Peters), Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical (Elaine Paige), Outstanding Director of a Musical (Eric Schaeffer), Outstanding Choreography (Warren Carlyle), Outstanding Set Design (Derek McLane), Outstanding Costume Design (Gregg Barnes) and Outstanding Sound Design of a Musical (Kai Harada).

HURT VILLAGE has been nominated for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play (Joaquina Kalukango).

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR has been nominated for Outstanding Revival of a Musical and Outstanding Sound Design of a Musical (Steve Canyon Kennedy).

LEAP OF FAITH has been nominated for Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Actor in a Musical (Raúl Esparza), Outstanding Director of a Musical (Christopher Ashley), Outstanding Choreography (Sergio Trujillo), Outstanding Music (Alan Menken) and Outstanding Book of a Musical (Janus Cercone and Warren Leight).

NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT has been nominated for Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Actress in a Musical (Kelli O’Hara), Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical (Judy Kaye), Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical (Michael McGrath), Outstanding Director of a Musical (Kathleen Marshall), Outstanding Choreography (Kathleen Marshall), Outstanding Book of a Musical (Joe DiPietro) and Outstanding Costume Design (Martin Pakledinaz).

ONCE has been nominated for Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Director of a Musical (John Tiffany), Outstanding Music (Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová), Outstanding Lyrics (Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová) and Outstanding Sound (Clive Goodwin).

ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS has been nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Play (James Corden), Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play (Tom Edden) and Outstanding Music in a Play (Grant Olding).

RICHARD III has been nominated for Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Actor in a Play (Kevin Spacey), Outstanding Director of a Play (Sam Mendes), Outstanding Music in a Play (Mark Bennett), Outstanding Lighting Design (Paul Pyant) and Outstanding Sound Design of a Play (Gareth Fry).

THE ROAD TO MECCA has been nominated for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play (Jim Dale).

SONS OF THE PROPHET has been nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Play (Santino Fontana) and its playwright, Stephen Karam, will receive the Sam Norkin Off-Broadway special award.

THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY has been nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Play (Carey Mulligan).

VENUS IN FUR has been nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Play (Hugh Dancy).

ATLANTIC THEATER COMPANY’s production of THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY has been honored with one Drama Desk Award nomination.

MANHATTAN THEATRE CLUB has been honored with one Drama Desk Award nomination for VENUS IN FUR.

ROUNDABOUT THEATRE COMPANY productions have been honored with thirteen Drama Desk Award nominations including ten for DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY, two for SONS OF THE PROPHET and one for THE ROAD TO MECCA.

SIGNATURE THEATRE COMPANY productions have been honored with two Drama Desk Award nominations including one for EDWARD ALBEE’S THE LADY FROM DUBUQUE and one for HURT VILLAGE.
