Acclaimed Italian performer Maria Cassi makes American debut in
MY LIFE WITH MEN… AND OTHER ANIMALS
Performances begin today at the 45th Street Theatre,
playing through Sunday, March 18 only
The accomplished Italian theater artist Maria Cassi makes her American stage debut in the international hit MY LIFE WITH MEN… AND OTHER ANIMALS, a hilarious and poignant semi-autobiographical look at what makes up la dolce vita and the lifelong process of figuring it out. Performances begin today at New York’s 45th Street Theatre (354 W. 45th Street), and the limited engagement plays through this Sunday only.
Conceived and developed by Tony Award-winner Peter Schneider, Cassi and New York-based journalist Patrick Pacheco, MY LIFE WITH MEN… AND OTHER ANIMALS is co-written by Cassi and Pacheco and produced by Change Performing Arts and Teatro del Sale. The production, performed seamlessly in English and Italian, has been produced throughout Italy to critical acclaim since 2010, with Cassi being likened to such legendary comedians as Charlie Chaplin and Jacques Tati. The New York run follows an engagement at the Madison Theatre at Molloy College in Rockville Centre, NY on March 9 & 10.

Hailed as one of Italy’s most engaging and funny exports, Cassi offers a rollicking crash course in love, seduction, death – and olive oil. In this tour-de-force performance, Cassi charts a hilarious path from fearful repression to rueful wisdom, inimitably bringing to life a host of characters including her reproachful mother, a faithless boyfriend, an American bag lady, a volatile chef-husband and friends who, like her, are fools for love.
Having discovered Cassi while traveling in Italy, producer Peter Schneider (The Lion King) says, “I am honored to help bring the extraordinarily unique and talented artist Maria Cassi to American audiences for the first time. Her exuberant show reminds us of the provocative magic of the theater and what it means to be gloriously, wittily, and madly human.”
The creative team for MY LIFE WITH MEN… AND OTHER ANIMALS includes set design by Gianni Carluccio, costume design by William Ivey Long, and lighting design by A.J. Weissbard, with images by Valeria Palermo and music direction by James Edwards. The production is presented by Madison Theatre at Molloy College in association with Change Performing Arts and Teatro del Sale.
