JERSEY BOYS is fabulous in Fort Lauderdale

JERSEY BOYS, the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical, opened to rave reviews in Fort Lauderdale, FL at the Broward Center on Friday, January 13 (performances began Wednesday, January 11) and will play through Sunday, January 29, 2012.  From Fort Lauderdale, JERSEY BOYS will play Fort Meyers, FL’s Barbara B. Mann PA Hall Wednesday, February 1 through Sunday, February 19.

The Miami Herald’s Christine Dolen raves “Oh, what a night the guys deliver.   JERSEY BOYS is one of those musicals that could and should tour for years. More than six years after its Broadway opening, the best of the jukebox musicals is still doing great business in New York and on tour, for so many reasons.  The show features a terrific streets-to-stardom script by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, craftsmen who are adept at weaving facts, drama and laughs into a compelling whole. Director Des McAnuff keeps the show flowing as flawlessly as a Four Seasons classic, building to the moment when Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi don matching jackets and blast into pop music’s stratosphere with Sherry. Then, just as the hits kept coming for Valli and the Seasons, JERSEY BOYS keeps on thrilling the audience for the rest of its 2 ½-hour running time.  Because of the era it re-creates, JERSEY BOYS is the quintessential Baby Boomer show. But like so many of the hits it revisits and celebrates, it’s timelessly appealing.”

Broadway World’s Beau Higgins raves “JERSEY BOYS is thrilling, masterful, and certainly unforgettable.  Indeed, one of the best musicals of all time.  Oh, what a night!  Anyone able to attend JERSEY BOYS and misses it, does so at their own risk.  The show creates a new audience for the songs of the Four Seasons, just as it creates new enthusiasts for the musical theater going audience.  May it run forever.”

Miami Artzine’s Roger Martin raves “Good heavens, what are you going to say when you see a show in which everything is as good as or better than you expected? How about, ‘Fabulous, darling’. ‘Terrific.’ ‘Truly professional.’  Brilliantly staged and performed show under the direction of Des McAnuff.  Believe me, you’ll leave the theatre singing the songs and saying out loud, ‘now that was a damn good show.’”.
