WHAT KIND OF FABULOUS WILL YOU BE THIS HALLOWEEN?
BROADWAY’S TONY AWARD-WINNING HIT MUSICAL PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT COUNTS DOWN TO HALLOWEEN WEEKEND WITH SHOW-INSPIRED COSTUME SUGGESTIONS AND AN IN-THEATRE COSTUME CONTEST
#8 “MISS UNDERSTANDING”
“Miss Understanding” is one of the first over-the-top characters we meet in PRISCILLA– and you better pray you aren’t trying to get into your seats late! As the emcee of a seedy but fabulous downtown Sydney drag club, “Miss Understanding” does a killer Tina Turner, belting out her iconic hit “What’s Love Got to Do With It?” in a hot pink dress and wig that only a true diva could pull off!
The Tony Award® winning smash hit PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT, produced by “The Divine Miss M” Bette Midler, has some of the most outrageously fabulous costumes ever to grace the Great White Way. Academy Award-winning PRISCILLA costume design team Tim Chappel and Lizzy Gardiner won the 2011 Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Costume Design, and now you can be inspired by their creative genius to come up with your own signature version of fabulous for Halloween. Whether you want to get in touch with your inner Diva, try out some Australian Outback-inspired couture, or just go completely over-the-top glam, the costumes of PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT have you covered. Every weekday leading up to Halloween weekend, PRISCILLA will share one of its signature award-winning costume designs to get your creative juices flowing just in time for your fabulous party or trick-or-treating adventure!
Come to the show on October 24th dressed in your most over-the-top ensemble, and you could be the winner of our GET FROCKED COSTUME CONTEST. There will be a check-in place at the theatre where contestants will be photographed. Photos will be posted on the PRISCILLA Facebook wall, where fans can “like” their favorite entries to help elect the best costume! The lucky winner will be announced on Halloween. Prize package includes a $150 gift card to fabulous Times Square restaurant Glass House Tavern, a PRISCILLA T-shirt, a playbill signed by the cast, a cast recording, and more!
