Kelli O’Hara Will Star Opposite Matthew Broderick in “Nice Work If You Can Get It”
New York Times – by Erik Piepenburg
Kelli O’Hara will be the leading lady in the new Broadway musical “Nice Work If you Can Get It,” the producers announced on Wednesday. She will star opposite Matthew Broderick in the show, which includes songs from the George and Ira Gershwin catalog and a book by Joe DiPietro (“Memphis”). Kathleen Marshall (“Anything Goes”) will be the director and choreographer.
Ms. O’Hara will play Billie Bendix, a bootlegger who meets a wealthy playboy named Jimmy Winter (Mr. Broderick) on the weekend of his nuptials. A news release describes the show, set to open in April 2012 at a theater to be announced, as “a new take on a classic 1920’s musical farce.”

CNN Acquires Zite, an iPad App Company
New York Times/mEDIA dECODER – by bRIAN STELTER
Putting an emphasis on personalization tools for the Web, CNN on Tuesday said it had acquired Zite, a company that markets an iPad app that learns what its users want to read and view.
The sale price was not disclosed, but media reports put it at $20 million to $25 million. CNN, a unit of Time Warner, said it would keep Zite as a stand-alone business, but would harness Zite’s software for CNN.com and other parts of its digital business.
Referring to personalization, KC Estenson, the general manager of CNN Digital, said in an interview, “This is a trend that I think is real and it’s here to stay. We now have an ability to track somebody’s interests and passions, and any good content organization is going to need to respond.”
Media companies have been scrambling to make their Web sites more personalized while technology start-ups have been innovating in the space.
Zite, which was made available to the public in March, and a number of competing apps like Flipboard have gained attention for sorting through Web sites and gathering articles that its algorithms say would most interest individual users. The New York Times Company is a financial backer of one such news aggregation app, News.me.
