A Touch of Broadway in a New Ticketing App
New York Times/ ArtsBeat Blog – by Erik Piepenburg
Has standing in line for tickets to “The Book of Mormon” become too much of a mission? A new app could make getting tickets to Broadway shows as easy as a tap of the finger.
ILoveNYTheater, created by the Broadway League, the national trade association for the Broadway industry, allows patrons to buy tickets at any price level to every current and coming Broadway show. Seats are sold in real time directly through Ticketmaster and Telecharge, the theaters’ ticketing providers, and without broker markups. (Processing fees, however, will still be charged.)
A mobile companion to the League’s ILoveNYTheater.com Web site, the app also lists theater locations, running times, a performance schedule for the current week, a guide to hotel and dining options in the theater district and social media connections. It is available for free for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
