“Oh so good!  Beneath all that glitz beats a great big sequined heart.” – NY1 News

To celebrate Priscilla Queen Of The Desert’s 100th performance on Friday, May 27th this Memorial Day weekend — the smash hit new musical is counting down 100 “memorable” facts and trivia  leading up to the landmark performance.

A series of 10 facts will be released over the 10 days leading up to PRISCILLA’s 100th Broadway performance.

#60: Diva Ashley Spencer was a finalist on the NBC talent competition series “Grease: You’re the One That I Want.”

#59: The most impressive use of Swarovski crystals on the Priscilla costumes is Felicia’s “bus top Aria” body suit worn by Nick Adams. The costume is an expression of irrepressible freedom and pure joy.

#58: The “bus top Aria” body suit reads as pure silver but it’s not. The highlights are done in the classic crystal but the shadows and body definition were created using violet, deep blue and hematite.

#57: When Priscilla opened in Melbourne, Australia in 2006, Bus and Production Designer Brian Thomson conceived a bus that was controlled by a hidden driver lying on his back under the floor, moving and steering it by watching the stage through television monitors.

#56: Priscilla stars Tony Sheldon, Will Swenson and Nick Adams shot an exclusive photo shoot for the March issue of OUT Magazine at the Pierre Hotel in New York City with iconic real-life drag queens Sherry Vine, Bianca Del Rio, Lady Bunny and Bebe Zahara Benet.

#55: “What’s Love Got to Do with It” is one of Tina Turner’s most successful singles of all time. Nathan Lee Graham does a spot-on Turner impression with the song at the top of the show.

#54: It takes a team of four hairdressers to maintain the wigs used in Priscilla and have them show ready on a daily basis.

#53: The finale of the show is a massive costume parade of “Australiana” featuring elaborate, eye-popping stage representations of Australian flora, reptiles and mammals.

#52: “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” has been played at every Baltimore Orioles game during the seventh inning stretch since the 1970s.

#51: Priscilla producer Bette Midler is making her Broadway producing debut with Priscilla – with 40 years in the business, four Grammys, four Golden Globes, three Emmys, a Tony Award and tons of record-breaking performances since she hit the scene under her belt!
