MANHATTAN THEATER CLUB’s Lynne Meadow and Barry Grove are two happy people indeed. They have brought to Broadway one of the most intelligent, moving and thought-provoking dramas in years, “Time Stands Still.”
This snappy, charming and super-brilliant work by playwright Donald Margulies is a “must-see” production starring four fabulous actors under the fierce and flawless direction of Daniel Sullivan.
The one and only Laura Linney, whose repertoire just grows more and more priceless with each outing, here gives a strong yet delicate performance as a worldwide photographer. Her mate, Brian d’Arcy James (last seen as an adorable monster in “Shrek: The Musical”), is a gem in his role as a loving, warm but jealous rival journalist and Laura’s husband.
Eric Bogosian, as the mentor of the pair and the former lover of Linney, is awesome as he woos the youthful, charming but ditzy Alicia Silverstone. She is a delightful surprise as the youngest, most delicious member of this fulfilling foursome. But, listen up, so far you have only through March 27 to see “Time Stands Still.”
